art is…
in everything, everywhere. i used to think that the designation of “art” was reserved only for visually pleasing objects such as paintings + drawings + collages + photographs. but i have come to learn that art is in everything, and it is everywhere, all the time; its ability to be recognized is determined solely by the observer. art is the way your grandmother holds her cup of tea. art is your best friend’s laughter punctuated by the slap of the knee. art is the sorrowful beauty of a fallen tree. art is inherent in you just as much as it is inherent in me.
awareness
writing is a means of transcendence. as i type, my gazes settles upon something outside… my mind has left my body. i write what flows through this meditative space. like jack johnson says, “the wisdom’s in the trees, not the glass windows.” when we are silent and aware, all of the messages appear. i figure ~ why not share them?
but in truth ~ it feels like it is a responsibility to share them… a debt owed. i have undergone many dark nights of the soul. it has been others’ words that have shone the light and guided me through. in this space, i wish to touch upon the truths of Life. the full spectrum.
community
perhaps you are a doctor or a mother or a bartender or a mechanic. though society has a way of attaching varying levels of importance to specific roles, we are all human. while i do believe we live many lives, this is collectively our first experience in this one. join me here in lifting the veil of the illusion of separateness. this a place for connection. this is a place to share a page or two from the novels that are our lives. who knows ~ perhaps this exchange has the power of gently nudging one another to extraordinary plot twists.
passion
sundays hold a special place in my heart, and for that, a piece focused on a specific theme will be shared on these days. on wednesdays, paid subscribers will receive a story that emulates this theme, as well as a prompt for a journal entry.
there may be the random share here + there. this is part of my passion for writing ~ for this art form. there’s no real rhyme or reason. there’s no telling what might inspire a poem or an essay or a stream of consciousness. but in reference to my opening statement, it is only a matter of being open + receptive to what is all around.
for whatever reason, i prefer to write this way; i like to save capitalization for the really really important things … like Soul and Love and Life. a bit ironic seeing that i make my living teaching pre-pubescent teenagers appropriate grammar and sentence structure, but at least no one is grading me here.
appreciation
thank you for choosing to subscribe and read along. it feels motivating to know that others are navigating similar experiences. it is a powerful reminder that we are each our own thread weaving the tapestry toward collective evolution. as ram dass says, “we are all just walking each other home.”
with gratitude + love,
